Sometimes we know the world of the story. Sometimes we know the characters. Sometimes we know the emotional truth at the center of the book.

But the ending? The actual shape of the journey? That can remain frustratingly out of reach.

In this workshop, we’ll explore how writers can begin “aiming the arrow” of a story before the target is fully visible. Using a series of layered questions about conflict, desire, opposition, and transformation, we’ll look for the deeper current underneath the plot—the movement that wants to carry the story forward.

Rather than forcing an ending into place, we’ll work toward discovering the natural confrontation your story has been building all along.

Especially useful for:

  • stories that have energy but no clear trajectory yet
    writers in the messy middle
  • discovery writers
  • novels that feel sprawling or unfocused
