Writing Day Retreats
Saturdays, 10:00 AM-5:00 PM, Beverly Lake, Everett, WA
(Note: In light of recent events, our March Writing Day, at least, will be virtual only. We’ll resume in-person Writing Days as soon as it is safe to do so.)
Bring your Work in Progress or idea and be ready for a life-changing day. We begin with a workshop, then break for lunch (on your own), followed by personal writing time. Sharing at the end, for those who wish it!
March Writing Day Retreat
“Opening the Forbidden Door: What it Can Teach You About Your Characters.”
March 21, 2020
LIVESTREAMED
In order to stay safe and healthy, this retreat will not be held in person.
We will ALL meet via Zoom. A focused, creative respite in the midst of a chaotic time.
All characters have certain past experiences and future possibilities they would rather leave unexplored (as do we!) But that very door may reveal our most potent storytelling. Discover what can happen when you risk turning the key.
(This retreat is also part of Labyrinth.)
May Writing Day Retreat
“Beginnings: Rock Your Early Chapters without Dumping or Disorienting”
Saturday, May 30, 10:00-5:00
How do you introduce your characters, conflict and story world so that the reader not only understands what’s going on, but cares? In this workshop, we’ll focus on the first three chapters of your book, where you set your characters in motion, lock your conflict, and hook your reader on an adventure they can’t put down. (If you have time, please read The Golden Day by Ursula Dubosarsky and Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple in advance of the workshop.)
(This retreat is also part of Labyrinth.)
